Overview
ECS – Sociedade Gestora de Fundos de Capital de Risco, S.A. (“ECS SGFCR”), as the controller of the personal data collected on the website www.ecs.pt (“Website”), uses cookies to monitor Users' browsing habits on the Website.
What is a Cookie?
Cookies are small text files that a website installs on the User's device through which the User navigates when accessing it ("Cookies"). Cookies allow the Website to remember the User's browsing actions and preferences for a certain period of time, and are therefore used by ECS SGFCR to process and manage User’s requests in the most efficient way, as well as to develop and improve the services and operation of the Website.
As a rule, the Website only collects anonymous information that does not allow it to know the identity of a specific User, associating the information with a given device, without knowing the identity of the User.
Where Cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of the Website or the provision of the service, these will be stored on the User's device as soon as the User visits the Website. In all other cases, this will only happen after the User's consent has been obtained.
ECS SGFCR will obtain from the User, and whenever legally necessary, the User’s consent to the use of Cookies and mechanisms for storing and accessing information, under the terms required by law.
Users may change their preferences at any time via the "Cookies Settings" link, available in the footer of the website. Once the User has adjusted its preferences, it may be necessary to refresh the page in order for the new settings to be implemented.
Types of Cookies used on the Website
The following cookies are used on the Website:
- Strictly necessary Cookies
Cookies that are strictly necessary do not require the User's prior consent and are essential for the operation of the Website or the provision of a service. They are usually only set in response to actions carried out by the User and which correspond to a request for services, such as setting the User's privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms.
The User may configure their browser to block or issue alerts about these Cookies, however this may lead to limitations in the User's access to the Website, since certain functionalities may not work. These Cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.
- Performance Cookies
These cookies allow ECS SGFCR to account visits to the Website and its traffic sources, for statistical purposes and to improve Website performance. These Cookies enable us to understand which are the most and least visited pages of the Website and how Users navigate through it. All the information collected by these Cookies is aggregated and therefore anonymous.
If the User does not allow these Cookies, ECS SGFCR will have no way of knowing how and when the User visited the Website.
- Third Party Cookies
These are Cookies from a domain different from the domain of the website that the User is visiting and which can be established through the Website by third parties; these Cookies may be used by third parties to build up a profile of the User’s interests and show relevant adverts on other websites. These Cookies do not directly store personal information, since they are based on the unique identification of the User's browser and internet device. If User does not allow these Cookies will receive less targeted advertising.
The use of some third-party Cookies on the Website may imply the transfer of the User's personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area which may not offer a level of data protection equivalent to that of the European Union.
How to deactivate cookies
If Users wish to change their preferences, they can do so at any time via the "Cookie settings" link available in the footer of the Website. After adjusting these preferences, the User will have to refresh the page in order for the new settings to be implemented.
Alternatively, Users may also change the settings for the use and installation of Cookies via their browser (which may have an impact on the operation of the Website, depending on the browser's settings panel and the possibilities offered to the User). Each browser follows different procedures, so you should consult the respective settings.
Social networks
The Website provides buttons for sharing content via the User's social networks. When Users use these sharing buttons, and if they have given their prior consent, third-party Cookies are installed. These cookies allow the User's data to be shared with the providers of the social networks on which the User is logged in with their user account.
If Users do not want any social network to have access to their information collected through the Website, they must ensure that are not logged in to their user accounts or terminate their sessions. Users may also refuse (or withdraw their consent to) the installation of third-party cookies used to make this content sharing unfeasible.
Amendments to the Cookies Policy
ECS SGFCR reserves the right to make changes and amendments to the Cookies Policy at any time and without prior notice by making the new Cookies Policy available on the Website. Access to and use of the Website following the publication of any modifications or amendments shall constitute acceptance by the User of the new Cookies Policy.
